2012 is the 35th year of The Bank of America Chicago Marathon. First held in September 25, 1977 under the name Mayor Daley Marathon with 4,200 runners, it is one of the five World Major Marathons alongside New York, Boston, London and Berlin. This year, 45,000 runners crossed the start line to do the 26.2 mile run across the City of Chicago’s 29 neighborhoods.
The event started with the expo at McCormick Convention Center where the race packets were picked up. Luckily, the convention my husband was attending was in the same convention center. So, at 8 a.m. on October 5, we lined up to claim our race packets.
