An unexpected race – The Chicago Marathon

A few weeks before Cobra Ironman 70.3, I did my long brick at Nuvali and cursed the heat while running.  It was terribly long and boring that made me swear not to do long runs in Nuvali no matter how the fresh air is there compared to the smog here in Makati.  Post on this, Last Woman Running was made right after. But today, I had to squeeze in my long run in Nuvali where we often do our Saturday training because of mommy duties. I wasn’t the last woman running though, I WAS THE ONLY ONE!  So, as I was about to finish the last 30 minutes of my 3 hours and 15 minutes run, I was cursing and praying and chanting all at the same time!

Why am I doing this crazy long run? My husband registered me for the Chicago Marathon this October 7! I have never thought of doing my first marathon this year! In fact, I still have not gotten over the Cobra 70.3 fever. But, since my husband is attending a convention on October in the windy city, he tried to register thru some marathon tours recommended by the organizers of Chicago Marathon and got a slot for us. Well, at least there is no need to beat any PBs thank God!  I have told myself that this will just be a “phototon” and I will buy a new camera for this.  So, wish me all the luck and that I meet the 6 hour 30 cut off!

An average of 45,000 runners register every year for the Chicago Marathon!

About pinayironmom

Pinay Ironmom is a typical mom who wakes up before 6 am to prepare my 3 children for school. After this, I make my husband coffee, similar to the Nescafe commercial on TV of a couple's typical morning. Work is normally a tour of Northern or Southern Luzon to inspect projects we are building, checking quality of designs or preparation of presentations to prospective clients. My schedule is flexible luckily, I can squeeze in hearty lunches with my favorite lunchmate and training early in the afternoon or right after business hours. Weekends are bike days on Saturdays at MOA or Daang Reyna and Sunday is my me time - my long run day. Oh warm ups and stretchings are trips to the grocery, cool down is hearing mass and giving thanks to God for a wonderful week. This is ME :)
